Qns: Reflect on the lesson today, which areas did you have difficulties? Why do you think that was the case?
Ans:
Hmm.... Very good question Faci! Very good question. I
do not have a answer to it. I think you know the reason
to it. Haha. Anyway, to put it in terms of words, I have
managed to stay very concentrated during the meeting. My
team managed to complete everything before break 2.
Therefore since I have some prior knowledge on the topic
that is given, I was able to complete everything easily.
So therefore I think with full concentration, I will not
have any difficulties.

Qns: You were more motivated today. What do you think is (are) the reason(s) behind your positive outlook today?
Ans:
There are many reasons to why I seem to be more motivated. Having friends that are determined to study and myself being determined to study. I think these two are my main motivation for my positive outlook.
Friends are important in our daily life. Someday I felt that I was trying to please them so that I can fit in. Like what I have discussed, it is impossible to live a day without our friends, but with people who are not determined to study. Things tend to go “hay-wired”. I think to be able not to get influence by friends are not very easy. There is a saying, “say is easy, but when work needed to be done, it does not seem as easy as it is.”
Many a time, I told myself to stop playing. It was an impossible as majority of the class are playing games non-stop. But somehow, today was amazingly interesting. I was able to focus and complete my work although I was still distracted at times. With certain people not around, class was quieter but we were able to find joy doing our work. The concentration level was high, therefore I told myself that I must not get distracted so easily if not I will be lost.
My own determination that I must not be distracted is back. With the fighting spirit, I tried to fight the fatigue. It is almost impossible as presentation starts. I almost fall asleep at times. I force myself to stay awake with a little help of game. Typical. If I do not, I think I will be like Alina, falling asleep. I think these are the reasons behind my positive outlook today.

The desired behaviour is trying to focus during the presentation and not doing any other things. My behaviour was a disaster. I wasn’t able to concentrate during class as I keeps on wanting to doze off. It was terrible. I am figuring out what has been wrong with me as this is not the first time I am using my games as a excuse to concentrate. I have no comment on my behaviour as it was seriously sulky!
Ans:
I think today's the main difficulty was to understand the concept of using the graph to solve the problem. I was having some problem to visualise, I was glad that Grace was able to understand. All the team members were confused except Grace. So without her help, we as a team and me as an individual would not have come out with any presentation.
I was not concentrating during the first session. During the second meeting, I put in more effort to try to understand the questions and the problem that we have to solve but I was unable even after you have explained. I would have almost grasp it if there were no fire drill. So with the help of Grace and after listening to the other four groups' presentation, I was able to understand what each graph means and why we need the graph for.
Ans:
I think I have done averagely. I was able to recalled and apply to today's problem. The ability to apply what I have learnt from the past two weeks is really what I feel that I have done averagely. If there is some atitude problem with me, I hope that Arvind would just tell me straight, not in a hurtful manner and I will definitely change. =)
Ans:
There was not many struggle. This is simply due to my prior knowledge toward the lesson. I was actually teaching my peers to understand the concept and to be able to explain during the presentation. I was totally not focusing during presentation as I was too focus on my series drama.
If there is any problem that I need to overcome, I will definitely use my spare time to try to finish up my presentation and to spend more time on research so as to understand the syllabus further rather spending on drama series which I could watch it at home. Done! If I am to evaluate my peers, everyone will be agree except Kit Meng, and for myself will be neutral for all.
Ans:
Yes. I do have the prior knowledge on the topic today. I took 'o' level chemistry combine with physic last year. This was one of my weaker topic in Chemistry subject. I was asked to go for intense study on this topic. Therefore with the intense study and having to clarify everything with my chemistry teacher. Not only so, my chemistry teacher is patience and gives me the space to think, like RP's teaching system. I believe it is because of this help, I have long time mastered this particular topic.
I have managed to teach my other team members on how to answer certain questions. I have taught them but there was some error when I was doing the power point slide. This may due to me overlooking as I trust them to do up a certain slides that is according to how I taught and how they get the information from online. This week, I am kinda like the boss. Zann and Sarah were actually playing rather than to be focusing doing the work although they did do a little. I am actually spending more time teaching/coaching Samuel(En Ming) and Roy(Kit Meng)when there is a need for clarification. That is why you can see that Zann did not talk much during the presentation because... she actually played around the most/slacked the most.
Not bad-mouthing here, it is just a change of identity today causes me to feel kinda left out. It seems that I am so serious suddenly which I am now really not sure if I should be serious or should I relax a bit... You can see that I am not the type of person that can take work seriously and to have fun at the same time. It will takes me weeks before I can do so I guess. When my patience run out, I might not be sure who am I le... haha... ok enough of my nonsensical stuff. JY for you marking of our grades! =) CHEERS!
Ans:
I think that prior knowledge was crucial for solving today's problem.
1. This is because if I do not know any prior knowledge, I will be at a lost of what to do. No matter what my team mates tries to explain, I might not be able to get it either. Therefore it is important that I have some prior knowledge of the topic before I can solve the problem.
2. When I have prior knowledge, I will be able to finish things in half-time. Many things will be solved without having to go through long explanation.
3. When I have the prior knowledge, I will be able to assist the team in doing the experiment. For example, zero-error, parallax error and many other errors that one may have. Therefore, with prior knowledge is crucial for solving the problem for today. I hope I have answered you. =)

Hmm... I felt that on a scale of 1 to 5, I think I am just 1 if I want to be... ‘emo’ about it. I felt that I am unable to be true to myself. 4.5 if I am with a mask. I felt that the ability to covey my message on how I get the conclusion and prediction and making observation was better than I did in secondary school. I thought that it will be hard as it was a topic that I am weak in. But surprisingly that I could managed it without a sweat. I must thank the ‘mask’ that I had put on.
You must be wondering why I keep saying mask, well just let me write what I learn and even though I mention mask... well just ignore it. I think that to be able to understand the fact that there is a North and South point is important as this shows that I will not get lost in the wilderness. Although there is no North or South point in today’s problem statement, but after all it is on magnets. It is represented in GB. I mention that I will not get lost in the wilderness is because if I am leading a team of people into camping, and I am not good with my direction and I do not know how to rely on compass, I will be in deep trouble. Therefore through today’s science lesson, I know that it is important to know how to read the compass or magnet even if there are interference.
Being able to clarify my thoughts with my team mates and understanding how each of us thinks, allows me to be more sure of my idea. For the last RJ, Ms Lim/Joan mentioned that if I do not know how to do a question or solve a problem, it is okay to say “I do not know”. I put it into used today during the time I am doing the worksheet. I am suppose to do question 4 and 5, but as I am doing question 4, I felt that I do not get what the questions was asking, for example Q4f, it was confusing and I do not know how to solve it. Although I am a persistent person, I still believe that when I say ‘I do not know”, it actually help my group to move much faster (in terms of speed and in terms of understanding) rather than stuck at one position and unable to move on.
Today when doing the problem statement, I am able to open up the game this means that I will not feel as left out as last week. I am also glad that this time round, the whole team are ready to take their initiative to complete the work that is on hand. Even though the presentation wasn’t that good, but at least, I felt that we were more prepared compared to last week’s presentation. I am able to focus on the group presentation until all my energy was drained bits by bits.
I hope that maybe if each teams are to complete one questions not many, it will be better. Reason is that, it will not drained everyone that much. This is what we have for communicative. I hope that with other questions, this will help us to be exposed to more than just one question. One may say, hey not everyone will source for the same resource, but for every project, I noticed that every team had presented their finding using the same resource.
Many of us are still relying on just one source, that includes me. I have forgotten to refer to other sources such as books. I guess the only way to remind myself that I need to refer to other sources is by using post-sticks or pop-ups to remind me to refer to other resources. Well, if must still be wondering what is a mask. It is the “friendly, outgoing and someone who do not need to battle with an ongoing emotion battle” mask. To be true, everyone has an ongoing battle in their mind, but I do not when my ongoing battle/emotional battle will end. I am tired of this battle.
If one day I cannot take the stress, and I cry in class, just let me be. I will be fine as time goes by. =) Ok sorry for the long essasy again. It is just a long and hard growing up process... =)
Ans:
Learning Science in RP has made things more interesting in comparison of my secondary school. In secondary school, we are given the selected info which are only related to exam and when we are studying for exam, it is pointless to study things that are not going to come out for exams. But in RP, we are to give our own views by researching on things that I might have known through prior knowledge, we could point out the mistakes that had taken place so as to allow us to understand and even to clarify things I might had mistaken.
In the past when I learn science, it is usually in a fixed method, by memorizing the formula or the certain special key point not by understanding how one work. Such as what we covered today, usually I just remember that there is platelet, red blood cell and white blood cell. But through today’s research and discussion with my team mates, I come to realize that blood isn’t as simple as I thought. Blood contains amino acid, gases, nutrients, nitrogenous waste, red blood cell, white blood cell and platelet. There are more information then I have known, beside clotting the injured areas and having a ABO blood type.
Through such research and discussion, I was able to understand and grasp hold of the concept better. I would say that I preferred studying in such environment than listening to lectures. In lectures, there is a higher chance of me dozing off and resulting that I do not understand what is going on in the lecture. In this “problem-based learning” environment, I am able to do my own study and if I do not understand anything, I can immediately ask and clarify compared with lectures.
If I compare with my secondary school, I would say that at the point of time, I felt that it is totally pointless to study science as I felt that studying science was to pass GCE ‘O’ level. But through PBL, I believe that Science is an important subject. It is important for me to study science, as I need to learn some basic first aid in my course, and to know that blood type and about blood transfusion, I believe that when I am covering first aid, it will help me understand more easily on why is there a need to elevate. I believe that I need to put in more effort in my research. I believe that I need to refer to other reference beside relying on Internet as my source of reference. I hope that I will be more open with my team mates, as today is the first day I am working in this team, which are different from the other 2 teams that I have worked with on Monday and Tuesday.
I hope that as times goes by, I will be more focus and be more understanding to my team mates. Even though I felt that I fared quite well today, but I believe there are still rooms for improvement. Such as communication skill, in my team I felt that we still lack of communication, for an instance; I asked them each to play the game and solve the question in the worksheet by choosing the stage that they want to solve, and then because of lack of communicating, two of my team members done the same stage and there was still 1 stage not done.
Therefore I believe my teams need to be more initiative and communicate. I know that since I am unable to open the game folder, I decided to do up the research so that they can be focus on just playing the game and answering the questions in the worksheet. I hope that my team members will take more initiative and not relying on other to decide for them. I personally felt that if my team do not wait for me to give suggestion, I believe we could finish faster and we will not fumble and rely so much on our scripts. I hope that by the next Science lesson, I will be more initiative and have the sense of urgency to complete my work on time and lastly to be more focus; especially during group presentation.
